CCA FLORIDA PARTNERS WITH COSTA DEL MAR FOR INFO-VIDEO |
ORLANDO, FL - Two groups, both impassioned with natural resource issues and driven by a desire to make positive change, met in mid-May to discuss plans for a new video project aimed at furthering the message of Sunshine State conservation. Representatives from Costa Del Mar sunglasses met with CCA Florida to talk about ideas for new partnership initiatives.
CCA Florida, the state's premier marine conservation group, works daily to protect and conserve the state's marine resources through advocacy and grassroots awareness. Costa Del Mar Sunglasses has a long history of conservation work, along with an impressive track record of visual media efforts including "Discover Galapagos," a captivating chronology of adventure on Ecuador's Pacific islands.
Based in Ormond Beach, Fla., Costa Del Mar has vigorously supported net bans and restrictions on long lining since its inception in 1983. Today, the company's conservation outreach also includes efforts to help reduce rampant by-catch on commercial fishing boats and supports better protection for migratory species.
While the company's conservation efforts span international waters, President Chas MacDonald said Costa Del Mar feels a strong bond with local efforts.
"We work with conservation groups all over the country, but given that Florida is our home base, it was only natural to form a bond with CCA Florida," he said.
According to Hendricks, the idea of combining Costa's marine conservation background with its previous documentary film experience to create a video for CCA Florida made great sense. "We wanted an informative, yet emotionally moving video that recognizes the need for every conservation-minded angler to join our effort and learn how to have a voice in managing our marine resources."
"Costa Del Mar has just been a great partner," said Hendricks. "They bring a high level of technical expertise to the table and their commitment to conservation is very strong."
The video will be shown during CCA Florida banquets, tradeshows and community outreach events. It will also be included in CCA Florida marketing kits and shown via streaming video at www.ccaflorida.org. The campaign aims to tug at the heartstrings, while invoking a sense of personal and collective responsibility among all who use and enjoy Florida's marine resources.
"It's never easy to (verbally) cover all that CCA Florida does, but this form of media will show people the scope of our operations and explain how everyone can get involved. It's a call to action for all outdoors enthusiasts," said Hendricks. "We hope that the video will inspire new people to get involved with CCA Florida, and encourage current members to do more."
Most of the footage will be shot along the Florida coasts, the Keys, and the Dry Tortugas. Costa Del Mar's in-house film production company, "Costafari Films," will handle all production elements, with completion targeted for September 1, 2007. Costafari produces several conservation-themed movies and videos each year and makes them available at retail locations and at www.costadelmar.com.
"Costa Del Mar believes that companies are community citizens, just as individuals are, and so we want to do our part to give back and be good stewards of our environment and our community," said MacDonald. |
