CCA Florida Releases 10,000 Redfish in Charlotte County

Along with our partners at Duke Energy and the FWC, we’re excited to continue our focus on red tide recovery efforts with the shoreline release of 10,000 additional redfish in Port Charlotte on Tuesday, August 6th.

The release included approximately 10,000 juvenile redfish (7 – 8”), all hatchery-reared and donated from the Duke Mariculture Center in Crystal River. Over 24,000 juvenile and adult redfish have been released on Florida’s west coast as a part of our Red Tide Recovery initiative, which launched following devastating red tide events in late 2017 and throughout 2018.

The public is invited to participate in the release. Join us!

William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park, 20499 Edgewater Drive, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Release will begin at 11 a.m.
