EAA to receive more than $300 Million in Funding

On Monday, President Biden and the White House released their proposed 2022-2023 Federal budget. The proposed budget includes $407 million for Everglades restoration. That is great news, especially since over $300 million of that will be allocated for the Everglades Agricultural Area reservoir (EAA)!

With the advancement of Florida’s 2022-2023 budget to the Governor of which $64 million dollars is allocated to the EAA reservoir together with the proposed federal funding is promising for the Everglades and the EAA reservoir. While Governor DeSantis must still sign the 2022-2023 legislative budget and Congress still needs to pass the Federal budget with the Everglades restoration funding intact, Coastal Conservation Association Florida (CCAFL) is pleased that these projects are being funded and the EAA reservoir will be fully funded for 2022-2023 fiscal year.

CCAFL is thankful for our members and Florida’s elected officials’ passion to protect and restore our Everglades. We applaud the efforts made by Governor DeSantis and Florida’s Legislature to improve our state’s waterways and estuaries, and we are excited for the future of Florida’s marine habitat.
